Blood tests for a medical reason: very different situation. If you have symptoms requiring investigation, you are on medications requiring monitoring, or an existing medical condition such as diabetes, high cholesterol or thyroid disease, blood tests may be an important part of your care. However, in these circumstances, your GP or specialist will advise which tests are appropriate and how often they should be performed, based on your individual medical needs.
The key message: There is no universal rule that everyone is entitled to annual blood tests. The appropriate frequency depends on your age, medical history and, most importantly, whether there is a clinical reason for testing.
